Importing Custom Blocks
Transcript
Moving into nTopology, the first thing we’ll do is import our custom blocks or the CBs I used in this workflow. There are a couple of ways to go about doing this. I would suggest simply just drag and dropping them into your My Blocks folder. Your My Blocks folder is generally going to be found under your User Drive, App Data, Roaming, nTopology, in My Blocks. I have my My Blocks folder sectioned out into various subcategories just to help navigate it a bit easier.
Putting the CBs into this folder will allow future instances of nTop to always pull them in. If you do this method, you’ll likely have to close your instance of nTop and reopen it to load those blocks in. Otherwise, we’ll come under File, Import, navigate to the location and click Open. In this scenario, that block will get populated into the notebook, and you might also notice this counter increased by one.
If we open up the View Imported Blocks, we’ll see that we have this CB as an imported block into this instance of nTop. We can click Import Block and continue to open the rest. Feel free to pause the video here and finish importing. You might notice that there’s a small icon to the right of each of these CBs. This indicates that this custom block is active within the notebook, meaning that I’m unable to delete it from the imported blocks section.
To remove them from the imported block section, we would delete any active blocks within the notebook and then we can delete it. If you’ve drag and dropped the CBs into your My Blocks folder and opened up a new instance of nTop, you’ll be able to find them via the search block section. I always label my CB starting with CB so I can easily filter through them in the search window.
The first step to designing our heat exchanger is to import the necessary custom blocks that you can download below this video. To learn more about custom blocks, please visit our Intro to Automation course.
