Run an automated nTop <> Ansys Discovery DoE workflow for lattice characterization

About this course

In this training video, Staff Solutions Engineer, Maiki Vlahinos, walks you through the steps of setting up an automated Design of Experiments (DoE) workflow between nTop and Ansys Discovery for lattice characterization. This example case investigates the effects of lattice type, the number of unit cells, and aspect ratio on pressure drop. The content and material provided in this training are intended to showcase one approach to perform a rapid DoE study by automating nTop workflows. You can modify and apply these as needed for your specific design goals and software tools.

Prerequisites: 101: nTop Essentials210: Intro to Lattices, 230: Intro to Automation

What is Covered:

  • Importing a DoE table into nTop to assign the design parameters to relevant inputs that control the geometry
  • Setting up automated design generation, FE meshing and FE boundary conditions assignment for batch export .msh files for CFD analysis in Ansys Discovery
  • Using a script in Ansys Discovery to batch run CFD simulations and output .png and .csv results files.
